Breadth #3
3D Design
Nature/Land Art
Option 2:
Objective: Create an abstract paper sculpture based on an organic form
Design elements to consider: convex, concave, volume, weight, shape, line, texture, light, open and closed space.
Organic shapes are shapes with a natural look and a flowing or curving appearance. For this reason, they are often also referred to as curvilinear shapes. Examples of organic shapes include leaves, plants, and animals.
Materials:
1. Paper. Experiment with different types - bristol, drawing, tracing
2. Adhesive. Glue, clear tape, thread
3. Exacto knife or scissors
Rules
1) Use white paper only unless discussed with the instructor. (focus on form, not color)
3) Forms can hang from fishing string or sit on a pedestal.
5) All forms must be organic.
Start by making a chinese lantern As you continue, experiment by cutting slits or score onto a sheet of paper, then twist and turn the paper to create a various unique forms. Try various designs that may yield different results. Consider organic shape, volume, space, and light. Use Scotch tape, white tape, or adhesive to adhere corners or faces together.
